Description
ZOOM EVENT ONLY:
Andy Dvorak’s presentation will review how the Industrial Revolution created modern water engineering projects which left the Great Lakes vulnerable to invasive species which have dramatically altered its ecosystem. These projects included the Erie Canal (completed in 1825), the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal (completed in 1900), and the St. Lawrence Seaway (completed in 1959). We will look at how these projects and invasive species have changed the ecosystem of the Great Lakes, and consider prospects and dangers ahead for the Great Lakes.
THIS EVENT IS PAST.
