The ONLINE ONLY 2022 Lectures in American History series will begin with a great friend of the series, Dr. Martin Quirk. His presentation will explore the development of American firefighting via major historical events. Firefighters have become one of the most enduring symbols of America, embodying some of its best qualities. From its beginnings in the early Colonial period, American firefighting has always drawn together cultural and social movements, and has reflected the changes of an ever more industrial and urban nation.
