Suburban Symphony: Exploring the Symbiosis of Car Culture, Urban Design, and the Rise of the American Suburbs

Josh Bost, an instructor of Sociology at Freeport High School, will examine how the growing attachment to the automobile in the 1950s impacted the design and development of suburban life. The United States today is organized around a transportation model that was designed in the 1950s and many are now casting a new vision for urban and suburban development. Josh will examine the interplay between these various forces that have played a role in how we live, work and travel on a daily basis.
