The Prairie State and the United States Navy

Over the 248 years since Congress created the US Navy, more than 25 ships have been named to honor people, cities, and rivers in Illinois. Among those ships are two named for a person from Stephenson County and one for the river that flows through it. Ed Finch will discuss the relationship between American naval ship names, and the who, what and why those ships were given names linked to Illinois.
