Program Description

Description

Mary Rose from Veterans Memorial Hall and Museum presents a history of the Swingley men, several of whom were veterinarians in Freeport, Pearl City, and Shannon. William Swingley lived on Bald Hill (now the Bald Hill Prairie Preserve, home to the largest tree in Illinois) which he purchased in the 1850s. The Swingley family history is a fascinating timeline of American history.
